A late-stage, low-temperature mineral with large, clathrate voids which host CH4, CO2, and N2. Stable below 40-65 deg. C.

Locality:

Name Origin:

From the Greek for "black" and "to be burned" in allusion to the fact that some specimens blacken on heating. Low temperature form.
